1930s Art Deco ' Radiant Red' compact rouge from the Gemey Richard Hudnut line of makeup.  Compact is silver, with a stylized 'S' on the cover and concentric cirlces on the bottom.  Opens to reveal a mirror on inside and bright pink rouge. 
 
Richard Hudnut, a French makeup line, created a number of cosmetic products throughout its run from 1920-1945.  Its US flagship store/factory was opened in 1931.  The Gemey line, of which this compact belongs, originated in France and was reputedly available there from around 1929 before being released into the United States in 1931.  It was promoted in the US as a prestigious Parisian line, and this compact reads near the hinge : GEMEY / Richard / Hudnut / Made in USA.
