Navy silk faille bodice and skirt with decorative shot navy and pink silk with woven dot motif in droguet pattern - sleeves, along bottom of skirt, yoke, and hemline of bodice.  Navy braided accents along yoke, decorated with long black Maltese lace. Bodice is lined with a checked cotton.  Interior of bodice is hand finished.

Skirt is lined with a heavy linen.  At the hemline there's a triple guard: bottom is a canvas biast tape, followed by the silk faille of the skirt, then a heavy herringbone horsehair fabric that runs a total of 9 inches up the bottom edge of skirt.

Bodice was most likely modified from the 1880s to the 1890s.  The yoke hooks at the left proper shoulder with hook and eyes, but covers a row of unused buttonholes running down the center front of bodice.  Bust and neck close via hook and eyes instead of buttons, whereas the waist of the garment closes with buttons.  Bodice has not been inspected for needle scarring or other possible signs for this re-fit.
