More Information: The meticulous hand finished details of this late 1920s day dress hint at an atelier or couture construction. Similar in style to a red dress gracing the cover of Vogue’s August 1929 issue, the amount of fabric needed to create the asymmetrical tiered ruffle would have been astronomical in material and price, and would have been made for a wealthier individual. The cut and design of this dress indicate the changing styles seen later in the 1920s toward a more flowy, feminine silhouette, forgoing the tubular androgyny seen earlier in the decade.
