Walking Dress

Date: c. 1890

Navy wool two piece walking dress.  Jacket is tailored and buttons up the front.  Hem of skirt is lined with a black velvet.  Jacket is lined with an emerald green, which has completely shattered.  Jacket also has a combination of three welt style pockets - one at left proper breast, and two at peplum style waist.  Dress is very reminiscent of 1890 riding habits with button up bodice, but skirt isn't asymmetrical, nor does it have the additional signs of being used for sidesaddle riding.
